Nomad Security acquires EagleESP
New Class of Authentication Protects Nomad Clients Against Unauthorized Access to Network Applications and Resources
ST. PETERSBURG, FL. - Feb. 3, 2005 - Nomad Security, a premier provider of software that creates secure access from any computer, today announced that it has acquired EagleESP. Terms of the acquisition were not announced. Nomad will use intellectual property and technology assets from the acquisition to provide customers with new tools to help protect against the threat of unauthorized access to network applications and resources. In addition, key personnel from EagleESP will be joining Nomad's security efforts.
“We acquired EagleESP Q-muniqué and for its innovative approach to identity and access management problems that are causing users to move-away from on-line transactions. Many industries are being impacted and, without a way to securely identify who is really accessing the network and controlling what applications they can access, online transaction will continue to be negatively impacted.” said Bruce Rebmann, CEO, Nomad Security.
The EagleESP product, Q-muniqué, will be renamed Nomad Secure Access (Nomad SA). Nomad SA is a security software solution that combines the power of two-factor authentication based on X509 V3 credentials with an on-demand private network (OPN) to protect transmitted data while controlling access to enterprise applications. Nomad creates secure access from any computer identifying who the user is, authenticating the user to the network and specific applications while creating a trusted connection over HTTP, SMTP, POP3, IMAP, FTP, Telnet and other communication protocols.
Unlike pre-configured VPN’s and static credentials, with Nomad SA, a user’s credentials and OPN client can be stored on a designated computer or, for portability, on a USB thumb drive, or any other form of removable media to enable users to roam from computer to computer. Nomad SA is based on a new class of public key authentication. Unlike traditional PK infrastructures, Nomad SA manages user privileges and all X509 Version 3 Certificates, including 3rd party certificates, while eliminating the need for a certificate revocation list (CRL). If a user is no longer valid, an administrator simply deletes the user and the user’s associated credentials become invalid.
